On July 26, the Irvine associates, led by Sneha Patel, Irvine Foundation Communications Chair, presented a ‘Feast from the Heart’ dinner for guests at the Orange County Ronald McDonald House. The meal featured a full taco bar and dessert. The large group of volunteers split their efforts with some preparing food while others cleaned and organizing the kitchen cabinets.

“It was so nice to see our team get together and make dinner for the RMHC families,” said Sneha. “I have participated in the dinners twice now and every time it is so wonderful to see how something as small as cooking dinner is so touching to the families. The families always make a point of coming to us to say how appreciative they are, and I always want to thank them back for giving me the opportunity. It feels so good to help someone in need.”

Of the 32 adults and 13 kids staying at the house at that time, only 15 were able to attend the dinner, but they were made to feel very important with this special meal. Most of the GSF volunteers were first timers to the house, and everyone had such a great time they were ready for the next volunteer opportunity.

“It was so amazing to watch their faces light up over a home cooked meal,” said GSF volunteer Nadia Jamir. “They were very grateful and we are very glad we could help!”
