Irvine Walkers ‘Reach for the Cure’ for Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation

2009.05.21 Pediatric CancerIrvine associates with their families and friends participated in the ‘Reaching for the Cure’ walk on May 3 at the Irvine Spectrum in Southern California.  The walk was organized to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. According to participants, it was a beautiful day and a great turnout. “I liked the fact that many families were involved,” says volunteer, Pam Kravitz. “There was a 1K race for the children in addition to the 5K Walk and 10K Race. Everyone displayed great enthusiasm for the cause!”

Hundreds of people comprised of participants, sponsors, and other cancer organizations attended this event. Many set up booths to inform, entertain, and offer incentives to help encourage a healthy lifestyle, including clothing companies who offered discounts on running shoes and clothing. Overall it was perfect day, the weather was perfect and spirits were high to join in for reaching for a cure.

Volunteers included: Pam Kravitz, Christopher Kravitz (Pam’s Son), Courtney Doeding (Pam’s niece), Alyssa Varvais (Courtney’s friend), Janis McCombs, April Froke (Janis’ daughter) and Keegan Froke (Janis’ grandson).
