Inspired by the national TV show, The Biggest Loser, many Whitewater associates wanted to improve their overall health and raise money for the Foundation by participating in the second ‘Fit for the Foundation Biggest Loser’ contest.  Twenty associates from all areas of Management, Administrative, Warehouse and Transportation participated in the 12-week program that ran from January through April.

Dividing themselves into two teams based on BMI (Body Mass Index), each week team members weighed in and tracked hours of exercise. All the participants donated a dollar a week and raised $240 for the Foundation. At the end of the competition, the team that had the largest percentage of weight loss is treated to a healthy lunch from the other team.

“Together we lost 135 pounds and exercised 370 hours,” says Katy Simon, Foundation communications chair. “Laura Peche was our overall Biggest Loser losing 12.5% BMI and winning $75 for her accomplishments. Team Two was our winner for this year. Although our total results are not as high as the well-known TV show, we all had fun challenging each other to keep trying and to not give up.”
