Conyers and Opelika Associates Set Fundraising Record with GSF Foundation Golf Classic

In late September, Golden State Foods associates from Conyers, Georgia and Opelika, Alabama teamed up to present the 12th GSF Foundation (GSFF) Golf Classic at the Reynolds Lake Oconee National and Landing Courses in Greensboro, Georgia. Across two golf courses, about 200 golfers included Liquid Products and Protein Products supplier partners and GSF associates who played 18 holes. Supporting GSFF programs and community nonprofit partner grants that benefit local children and families in need, the event raised a record amount of more than $140,000 this year.

“Thank you all of the participating golfers and event sponsors, and most importantly, thanks to the 50 GSFF volunteers across both Opelika and Conyers who helped coordinate and host the golf tournament,” said Joni Smith, the Golf Classic’s Event Chair and GSFF Conyers Committee Programs Chair. “We appreciate the team effort from our two GSFF committees coming together to make this year’s fundraiser such a huge success, so we can make a bigger community impact together in the Southeast U.S.”

The two-day event included the golf tournament and awards reception, silent and live auctions, and a VIP dinner party with a DJ and a bourbon bar at a private residence at Reynolds Lake Oconee. GSF chefs Kate Dolan and Fred Heurtin collaborated with chefs from supplier companies to prepare an upscale backyard BBQ dinner.

GSF’s Frank Woodson, Group Vice President, Operations – City of Industry Manufacturing, led a live auction of high-end bourbons that raised more than $4,000. The silent auction generated over $10,000 from a variety of items, including an autographed Bret Michaels guitar (from the band, Poison) donated by GSF President and CEO Brian Dick. He acquired the guitar during a Stars & Stripes charity event he supported with former GSF Chairman and CEO Mark Wetterau. As the high bidder, GSF supplier partner Jordan Adediran with Amcor won the special guitar.

Congratulations to all involved in this year’s successful GSFF Golf Classic fundraiser!
