GSF Foundation at QCD Charlotte Take Nine Local Kids in Need to Their First Hockey Game

On January 28, 2017, the GSF Foundation volunteers at QCD Charlotte took a group of nine children served by The Relatives, a local youth crisis center, to a Charlotte Checkers hockey game. This was the first hockey game attended by the kids (ages seven to 16) and they had an opportunity to high-five the players coming off the ice during the first period of the game. Associates provided the kids in need with dinner, dessert, and they also received a Charlotte Checkers hat.

“The game lasted about three hours and during that time they forgot about their issues at home and enjoyed the game,” said Pete Van Saun, chair of the GSF Foundation Charlotte committee. Special thanks go out to the following associates who volunteered at the event: Anette Peterson, Brad Brodzinski, Davin McDowell, Gregg Pilkington, John Sweat, and Mitch Radulovich.
